On June 2nd of this year, my wife and I will be leaving for our 5 year anniversary cruise on Harmony of the Seas. Back in 2014 when we got married I weighed in around 305. We honeymooned on another cruise. My goal then was to win the belly flop competition. I met that goal doing the truffle shuffle.
I lost weight the year after and got down to around 240. Then our daughter was born and over the past 3 years I ballooned back to 325 my heaviest weight ever recorded around January 1st of 2019. For reference I am a 6’3” 35yo guy.
On the Harmony they have a zip line that spans the top deck. I have always wanted to zip line and I was excited to try it. My only problem is they have a 275 weight limit. It was this that truly made me realize it was time to stop letting my weight hold me back from doing the things I want to do. I am now down to 288 and only 13 pounds away from zip line weight. I don’t intend to stop there. I really want to be at 260 before we go. That way I don’t have to moderate on the boat. After all, diets don’t exist on cruise ships. However I do plan on being much more active this trip and do the rock climbing wall and participate in the more physical activities. No belly flop competition for me this time.
What are your goals?
