I spent three years in NYC and absolutely loved these incredibly unhealthy, incredibly delicious absolute units of a cookie from a place called Levain Bakery.
Since moving to LA in 2014 I have searched far and wide for these things to no avail. I very nearly gave up when I walked into a grocery store called Bristol Farms. Never been there before, but lo and behold, just as I walk in, there's a bakery with some cookies that look like them but I try to temper my excitement. I ask her what kind they are and she says "chocolate chip and walnut."
My heart skipped a beat. I found them! I got one fresh out of the oven, and I inhaled the sweet delicious goodness with joyful glee.
For about ten seconds.
As I mentioned in another thread, I decided to do CICO. I'm not hardcore like you guys. I love food. I tried keto, eating vegan for a bit, none of that worked for me. But just eating food but a little less? That was doable for me.
Well I'm down about 35 pounds now, and over the course of the past few months MFP has been illuminating in terms of realizing what is absolutely piss poor for my diet, and overtime I guess I've unconsciously adjusted my eating habits because I was full with 1/4 of it. Nearly 1/2, I was absolutely about to burst and tossed it out.
I had to mull over that one for a solid hour. Five years ago, I probably would've devoured 2-3 with ease. Now, after all these years of searching, I can only eat half?!
My takeaway message is simple: while you may have a goal in mind, like, say, to lose 50 pounds in the near future or something, realize that it is both a destination and a journey. You could absolutely put all your life savings into getting fit, or you can take baby steps towards it, but the most important thing is developing habits you can stick to I'd say. And along the way, even just being in that general mindset of getting fit, your body adjusts (after putting up a reallllly difficult fight) eventually and you develop habits that will benefit your life tremendously down the road.
Best cookie I've ever eaten too!
