I'm sure that title doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But let me explain.
I've been trying to 1400 calories and workout three days a week. I've been having no results lately despite being trying to be more strict. A couple issues for me being that I need to go back to the doctor for a lab tests for my thyroid to see if my meds need to be adjusted because I've felt absolutely awful lately (the fatigue, brain fog, cold sensitivity, dry skin) and I know that thyroid issues only account for a small portion, but for me it can make a huge difference.
So because I've had no results, I'm cutting back to 1200, at least until I either start to see results or get my thyroid meds adjusted. And I've been having the problem that I like multi-part meals. Like for lunch I like to have a main dish, some fruit and some cheese, and some crackers. I can usually make all of that fit into about 400 calories if I go protein heavy for the main part of the meal. But the last couple days I've been leaving parts out of my lunch (the cheese, crackers, and half the fruit) and I realized: I'm actually still full and satisfied. I've been forcing myself to overeat because I think the multi-part meal is right. But I'd have my lunch, and then a snack when I get home from work, workout, and then make dinner and I'd usually end up over my calories because after the workout, I would be absolutely ravenous.
So I'm glad to realize that I can totally eat less and be completely okay. Small, simple meals are fine. They don't need to be extravagant. I can split up what would have been my whole lunch and make it lunch and my snack. I'm not going to starve or die. I'll be just fine.
Has anyone else dealt with the problem of what they, in their mind, think a proper meal should be and struggle against that?
