A word on finding something you actually enjoy doing if you're going to work out...(27/F Cw-214/Gw175)

Several years ago 2014 I met a girl through work who was a part time fitness instructor, mostly she taught spin classes in her spare time for a small fitness studio in my city. We became friendly and she invited me to a class because I mentioned I hated working out but wanted to lose some weight.

I reluctantly agreed because she gave me the class for free,

I really liked the quickness of the class. 45 minutes for an intense workout was really cool and I actually felt good when I finished

the clientele at this place was NOT my type, and the classes/membership was expensive, and I kinda hated the music they used for the classes, but I continued to go because I was seeing results. I ended up losing 50 ish pounds between March and August of that year.

Eventually though the cost started to weigh on me, and I got really frustrated with the boring top 40 songs that were approved by the company that I couldn't really get into, and I still HATED the other members, I never felt like I fit in. So I quit going. Of course after awhile u gained all the weight back and more. I thought about going back several times but could never actually make the effort to go.

Then late last year my boyfriend switched gyms and offered to add me to his plan so I could start working out with him, he said he would show me everything he could and help me get confidence to be able to work out by myself. I agreed because I was tired of hearing myself complain about my weight gain, and to his credit, he really did try. But I just couldn't get motivated to go, I hated the weights and the confusing machines and not knowing if I was doing something right and it was so fucking boring the whole time, I would look for any excuse not to go when he went.

Then the other day I agreed to go because I felt gross for paying for the membership and never actually going in. I had noticed a few times they had a spin room but I never saw anyone in it and after all I joined to work out with my boyfriend.

However on this day I just did not want to lift another fucking weight. I really hated it, so he told me he would finish his routine and I could go do the elliptical if I wanted and he would find me when he was finished. I said okay and started walking toward the cardio area.

Half way there I passed the spin room, it was dark and empty and all the lights were off but I decided to go in anyway, I put my feet on the pedals and played my music from my Spotify on random and just started pedaling...

YOU GUYS, It was amazing. It wasn't perfect because the music didn't have smooth transitons in rythym and I wasn't wearing the right kind of shoes and it was weird being alone. But when I closed my eyes and got into the rythym of the song I didn't want to stop, I was actually annoyed when my boyfriend found me and told me he was ready to go after only 20 minutes.

That night I went home and put together a 30 minute playlist of songs in an order equivalent to the process of that class I used to attend but with songs I actually liked. . I have been going every day since. I'm sore and tired as hell when I'm done and I can't go as hard as I used to because I'm so out of shape but I know I will get there.

I can't wait to go again tomorrow and go hard on the bike and sweat to my jams and watch the pounds melt off again.

If normal gyming isn't for you and the elliptical sucks and you hate the stares from hoity toity bitches in expensive high end fitness studios. Keep trying things. I promise you will find something you like, or at least something you don't hate.

EDIT: Heres a screenshot of my first playlist if you like hip-hop music and want to try it yourself, it includes a warm-up and cool down song at the beginning and end. And I went up 2-3 gears with each song starting in second gear for the warm-up and dropped back down to 5th gear for the cool down. https://imgur.com/a/K0CkOIH
