Stick with it and habit will take over

I had an experience tonight that I thought it was worth posting about in case it helps anyone else out. If you stick with all the work you are doing, it will become habit and you won't have to think about it so much.

I'm away with work at the moment - in the past this has meant I sat and ate myself stupid. I'm tired and lonely - in the past this has meant I sat and ate myself stupid. I also managed to fall over and cut my knee which was rather embarrassing- in the past I probably would also have sat around and eaten myself stupid.

As I went into the supermarket to grab dinner, I was fully intending to grab something highly calorific - my mind was on a huuuuuge bar of chocolate. I found myself wandering around, absentmindedly looking at things and vaguely thinking "nah, not worth the calories". I left with a healthy meal.

In the past, I can't tell you how much willpower that would have needed. I would have sat feeling miserable all night, and deprived of something. Instead, I feel full and satisfied. I don't feel like I needed much strength to make those decisions: 6 months of tracking and 70lbs down have put those behaviours in place for me.

For any of you who might be feeling a bit sad and deprived right now, I promise you that you're putting in place behaviours which will help you so much in the future - keep at it!
