[NSV + SV] I kept a promise to myself that maintaining through the holidays wasn't the end of losing, and today I'm officially at my lowest adult weight yet.

It's been a rough winter, folks, but I'm getting somewhere.

I started working to get my weight down on February 2, 2018. I was somewhere between 290-300 lbs--my analog scale at the time was total garbage. Over the course of last spring and summer I made a good dent in my larger goal of losing ~110 lbs. I was logging everything I ate, using IF (aka skipping breakfast to eat an early-ish lunch) and cooking delicious vegetable-loaded dinners every night. I give myself a little bit of freedom on weekends to keep my sanity, but still log everything.

Then October rolled around, it got dark and cold outside, and although my habits had not changed, my body was very certain that I wasn't eating enough. I just couldn't stop hunting for something more to eat. I practically resorted to chugging buckets of veggie soup to get my stomach to sit down and shut up. That sort of worked, although I was really slowing down on losing it (and I'm pretty burned out on soup right now).

I knew what was in store at the time. October was hard enough. But October leads to November (three family Thanksgivings!) and then December (three family Christmases!) and NYE (drinking with old friends!). I didn't want to be a drag around my family and friends, but I also didn't want to backslide. With eight months of solid healthful practices under my belt, I decided to drop off of MyFitnessPal until the new year and promised myself that I would drink lots of water and stop eating when I was full in the interim. However, during that time, I never stopped checking in on r/loseit. I didn't want to lose sight of the bigger plan. I figured that seeing you guys keep at it through the hardest part of the year would give me the strength to keep my promise.

And it f*&%ing worked! I weighed in on January 1, 2019 about 4 lbs heavier than October 31. A negligible difference that slid right down after three days of conscientious consumption. I've had a flawless first week back. Today I logged my weight and MFP was kind enough to tell me that I have reached 50% of my goal, and I've reached my lowest recorded adult weight. In a way, I think I needed the break and the chance to prove to myself that I can be responsible without being obsessive. Today I feel as enthusiastic about pursuing a healthy lifestyle as I did last February. I give thanks to this community for helping me keep it together!
