I’ve been actively losing weight since August 2017, after two years of binge eating and binge drinking to cope with the stress of grad school (and after gallbladder attacks triggered by my extremely fatty diet led to emergency surgery to have it removed). I’m not at my goal weight yet, but within about 15 pounds.
Lately, I had been wondering whether I’m getting close to the size I was the last time I was at my goal weight, which was in high school, because I have much more muscle then than I do now. I wasn’t quite sure how to gauge it, since vanity sizing is a thing; so I couldn’t even go try on clothes that are the size I used to be in 2010 and use that as a test. It occurred to me today, that I could try on my prom dress - I was 160-165 at my prom, and had set my goal weight at 160 based on that being the size I wanted to be when I started maintenance.
Lo and behold, it fit... and was even a bit looser than it was then! I remember having to wear a bustier for it to fit properly - partly because it’s a strapless gown, and I have a larger bust, and partially to suck my stomach in a bit. But today, it fit, without having to suck anything in! I still have some fat I want to lose (my legs and stomach are the worst culprits), but I think this might be a sign to adjust my end goal to a clothing size goal - I’m currently a dress size 6/8; would like to be a 4/6 - instead of a specific number on the scale.
But holy crap, I can’t believe this dress actually fit. Not brave enough to post my prom pics, or pics of me wearing it today, but this is so exciting.
