I'm addicted to cereal, and its caught up to me in my older age!

So starting back when I was in elementary school, maybe earlier, I would eat a very large bowl of cereal for breakfast, after school for a snack, and another before bed. 3 bowls of cereal a day! The 3 bowls per day lasted until at least college.

So somewhere between college and present day, now almost 35 years old, I have transitioned from 3/day to 1. I still however (until very recently) eat a large bowl of cereal every night before I go to bed. As you can imagine this has caught up with me. Certainly not the only cause of my recent 220lb weight, but I suspected that it may be a contributing factor.

My wife has currently ramped up her focus on a more positive exercise & eating life style. As a result, and as caring spouse should, she has encouraged me to join her in this journey. Because of such, she has been cooking healthier, we have eliminated eating out, including my lunches, and I decided to assess my cereal eating addiction. (Those that question whether someone could be addicted to something as simple as cereal, try doing something for 30ish years religiously and then stopping, you will have your answer.) I decided to actually start weighing the amount I was eating and properly determine the calories I was taking in. Based on 5 or so of the typical cereals I would eat, it has come to my attention that I was eating in the range of 700-1100 calories of cereal (and milk) per night!

Needless to say I have recently (about a week ago) given up cereal, and wowzers do I feel better already. Apparently eating a giant bowl of carbs and milk before bed can have a negative impact on a person! Who knew!

Combined with my wife's healthy meal planning and I'm down about 5 lbs already!

TLDR: Stopped eating 700-1100 calories worth of cereal a night and I'm losing weight, and feeling better!
