Has changing birth control methods helped anyone?

Just to preface this I know it’s not specifically the method of birth control that makes you gain weight it’s your eating habits. That being said I’ve been on the depo shot for a few years. I had a six month break in it three years ago after a break up and I managed to lose 30+ lbs without too much effort. Ever since going back on it I’ve been fighting insane cravings that honestly feel like I’m constantly on my period or even pregnant! My will power is suddenly non existent. I absolutely hate how I feel on this medication but I know myself well enough that my only option is to get an IUD. I was hoping someone has had experience doing this and that it helped them feel normal again. Or if anyone has advice to fight cravings or low cal snack ideas that work well with cravings like that
