I shared my story here a year or so ago, not long after I got diagnosed with high blood pressure. My progress was pretty good on simple CICO, and I found all of you guys supportive, but pleasantly honest (sincere thanks to the person who reminded me that I was doing good, but still had a ways to go).
Well, I got lazy. I erased all the progress I made. I went from 275ish (about 30 lbs. down) back up to 310 to 315. I'm alarmingly close to the heaviest I ever was back in the day. I've made my share of excuses: too tired from work, depressed, lost in life, I would just compensate the extra food I was eating with exercise, et cetera. I know better than to cling to any of those excuses. What happened, I'm 99% certain, is that I got lazy about watching calories. I barely counted them at all for what feels like six months.
But I guess the good thing about having a definite method is that there's no "magic" to spoil. Slipping up once doesn't bring on some mysterious curse.
I've screwed up. I've endangered my health. None of my clothes fit right. I'm back to disliking pictures of myself.
So it's time to get serious. Start again. Be diligent. And the first part of that is admitting to everybody that I screwed up, that I'm ashamed of it, and that, thankfully, I'm stubborn enough to give it another shot.
