I used to be super fit about 7 years ago, I was running marathons, smashing out 10k races and had completed 2 Ironmans. Then it all fell to bits, I went through a really stressful time and as a result just kept putting on weight and struggled to maintain my health. Last year things finally settled down enough for me to train up to do a Marathon and I did it in 4 hours 27 mins. While I managed to get through the race my weight just held me back and it was a horrible day on course. I tried to drop the weight by training a bit more but it didn't work and come February this year when I did a 10k nothing had changed and I was still sitting at 90kg.
In the week after I kind of just stumbled upon this page and it was something about being able to see everyone else's struggle and how they were overcoming it that got me to stop lying to myself about my diet and to finally do something about it. I started counting calories and the weight finally started to drop off. I joined a couple of the challenges and the support from this community was amazing in keeping me on track. As of a month ago I finally made my goal of 75kg. While a loss of 15kg is amazing it was nothing to the feeling I got crossing the line for the same marathon I did a year ago in 3 hours 21mins. Over an hour off my time last year and 25mins faster than my PB 7 years ago.
So thank you so much to the LoseIt community, you have made a huge difference in my life and I think without your support I would be sitting here now at the same weight I was 7 months ago feeling miserable and beating myself up for another poor race.
