The other day I saw a dietitian/nutritionist and I am not sure all of her advice is good for me. She told me to start ignoring calories, and to stop counting them for now. I agree that I have gone a bit overboard, e.g, the day before I saw her I only ate 600 calories. But I know if I get out of the habit of counting calories my entire diet will fall apart, which is exactly what happened last time.
She wants me to both eat more and exercise less. I am trying to lose a lot of weight, but she wants me to have no less than 2,000 calories a day, and I feel like I could get by on much less. On my active days I could get by on 1,500 calories, and the days I don't really do anything I probably don't need more than 1,300 calories.
She thinks I need to exercise less because I shouldn't be losing too much weight through exercise? In the 7 day period before my appointment I walked a combined total of almost 40 miles, did 3 hours of Tae-Kwon-Doe, and 6 hours of fencing. I'm losing weight and I feel amazing, but she kept saying it's too much and I need to cut it out.
