How to politely decline food? What works for me + please share yours

I've collected the following from other Redditors over the last month or so:

[1]

"No, thank you" then silence

[2]

Be direct, and live with the reaction

[3]

"I'm trying to avoid x"...then, if pressed, "health reasons when I eat it"...will likely stop there

[4]

"under dentist/doctor orders not to have it"

[5]

"I have more stable energy throughout the day when I avoid x"

[6]

"I'm a health enthusiast" (instead of health nut)

[7]

"Actually, do you have a cup of tea?" (helps when people are trying to be a good host...still lets them 'take care of you'
