Did anyone here lose fat not eating the traditional stereotypical diet?

By traditional stereotypical diet I mean eating vegetables and restricting low volume high calorie foods and eating high volume low calorie foods.

I've tried this diet and it just didn't work for me, I found it really unsustainable. Nothing really worked.

Now I just eat anything I used to before but in low quantities so I'm still at a calorie deficit.

Did anyone else ever stick to this method and successfully lose fat?

I'm worried that by the end of this I won't lose fat in a good way but become skinny fat or lose more muscle.

I am working out atleast 3 times a week. Including weights.

Also I don't really eat cookies and crisps everyday but just foods that aren't traditional for dieting like pop tarts, white rice, oil grilled chicken. I still eat fiber cereal, skim milk, whole wheat bread, avacadoes atleast a little bit.

I would love some insight:/
