An analogy to help the shorties

I've struggled with my weight all my life and as a 5'2" lady, often felt bitter about how few calories I get compared to others. I heard an analogy recently that changed my perspective.

Imagine a cat and a lion. Which one needs more food? The lion of course! It's much bigger so it's body needs more food to survive. If you fed the kitty the same amount you fed the lion, she would gain weight. Not because something is wrong with her, but because she is eating more than her body needs.

It's not unfair that short people get fewer calories a day, our bodies simply need less food to function. If we eat according to our actual caloric needs, we are treating our bodies with respect and seeking balance, not restricting ourselves. It may take time to see it that way because we are all accustomed to eating Lion sized portions.

this perspective haso helped me accept my lower TDEE and really focus on portion sizes, hunger and satiety signals. I hope it helps others too 😊 Whenever you take food ask yourself, is this Kitty sized or Lion sized?
