“You don’t understand because you’re bigger than me”...

So today yet another one of my ‘thinner’ friends blurted out that she hates herself and her body. As a person on a new journey whose working very hard to lose weight and at the moment is full of positivity, I immediately offered support.

You see, I too am unhappy with my body but I am also working on it. I started giving her suggestions of how to work out a meal plan and attempt to lose the weight but also I did mention that she shouldn’t focus on it so intensely, she is quite thin as it is and she should work on toning and creating a healthy lifestyle pattern. She also needs to push away the demons causing her complexes.

To which she replies,” Well yeah but anyway you don’t understand what it’s like - you’re bigger than me and you don’t know what it’s like to compare yourself with your model friends...”

To which my jaw dropped. So because I’m bigger I don’t understand body composition? Or because I’m bigger I think everyone smaller than me looks better than me? Really?

She annoyed me so much. I’m done trying to help these people , I’m don’t giving advice. I feel like I’m surrounded by a bunch of people on the verge of getting an ED - and I cannot be around them. I just recently got past my own major issues with food and my ED - I am just not ready to be helping others go past theirs.
