I recently decided to try losing weight again - I had lost about 20 lbs doing CICO three years ago before I got really stressed out by the end of grad school and job searching, and I never got back on the wagon. But the point is CICO was working really well for me until I quit - the 20 lbs was over like 2.5 months - and I want to start up again.
In the meantime, my sister has lost about 80 lbs over a year and a half or so on WW. Other family members have lost a not insignificant amount of weight on WW as well.
I’ve tried WW several times (including this week), and I don’t really like it.
I’m all for everyone using whatever works best for them - this isn’t a judgment of one program or diet over another.
My biggest qualm about WW is not being able to easily see the data and not really understanding the algorithm. I feel like I have more control over the process using MFP. I get why some people, including my sister, like the simplicity of WW points, but I just end up feeling stress around them in a way I don’t when I focus on calories and keep an eye on everything else. So...probably not a good choice if this is something I’m going to stick to, at least for now.
I live several states away from most of my family and I’m seeing several family members next weekend. I’d rather not bring it up when I see them, but if it comes up, I want to be able to explain my choices in a way that (a) makes it clear that WW is fine, but not for me and (b) that it’s not that it’s too hard and I’m not really trying (or something like that)...I’m still taking major steps to lose weight here.
Any tips?
