Today is my 28th day of tracking my food, working out, and trying to make overall better decisions for my health. I have a lot of weight to lose, and in 4 weeks I'm down less than 1 pound. If I were to measure my success by only the scale, this would be the day I give up.
I'm using CICO. I measure everything I eat. I track every single bite and sip. I've always been active, and my workouts have increased in intensity, duration, and frequency. The first week I tracked calories it was eye opening. I didn't feel like I was eating as excessively as I actually was. Yesterday after eating 1600 calories I felt like I had indulged in gluttonous fashion.
A month ago I hated going on my kid's favorite slide at the water park becaise there are SO MANY stairs. Yesterday we ran all over the waterpark, and I found myself impatient with the people taking a moment to catch their breath on the stairs.
A month ago I knew I was strong, but Friday at the gym I did more pushups, lunges and squats than I think I've ever done in a single hour, including all those crazy boot camps I've tried.
So despite the scale, and despite my clothes still being snug, I'm not giving up today. I have a very, very long way to go. But I already feel better. I sleep better, I eat better. This might be the 957th time I've started this journey, but that's okay. It's not a sprint, it's an ultra marathon.
Thanks for your help. Reading your stories helps me stay on track, and has helped me remember my worth. I hope this helps someone else, becaise it's so much easier to keep going slowly than turn back.
