Sharing weight loss journey with friends a family - good or bad

I never say out loud to anybody that I am trying to loose weight. I am open about food restriction (due to bad digestion) such as no gluten, no lactose (read: forget i'll eat your b'day cake at work!) but i never say that i am also trying to loose weight. The only person who knows is my husband who often serves me truthful but hurting comments such as: again eating nuts? Maybe good for accountability but it often has just the adverse effect.

What's your take on sharing the weightloss journey with colleagues, friends or family? In your experience, is it worth it?

It could be useful to gather your opinions and share with one another!
