I see this on this sub a lot (and it happened to me as well), so I just wanted to put this up here for visibility.
There are a lot of posts from people who have just started changing their lifestyle and tracking their calories and are frustrated because they are not seeing the scale move. Most of the replies to these threads are along the lines of "you're probably not tracking your calories correctly" or "your daily calorie goal is probably too high"
IN MOST CASES this is great advice. However, if you're sitting here with a BMI of 37+ and you're finding yourself going to bed STARVING because you're eating just a fraction of what you know you usually eat, chances are you're eating at a deficit even if your MFP logging isn't 100% accurate. There might be something else at play here.
If you are very overweight you likely have obesity related health issues like insulin resistance and hypothyroidism. Getting properly medicated for these will go a long way in making sure CICO works for you the way it works for everyone else. It's not a magical diet pill, you still have to do the work, but you could be a blood test and a doctor's appointment away from making it 10x easier on yourself.
