When I first decided to lose weight, I didn't weigh myself, instead deciding to just guess my weight at 265 and diet until I liked how I felt/looked. About a month in, I decided to start weighing myself daily, and saw that I was 300lb! Holy cow! All of my weight loss progress has since been from the assumption that I started at 300lb. But today, I weighed in at 265-- the weight I thought I was to begin with.
It's an interesting reminder of the way we lie to ourselves about our health. It's also motivation, because I remember how doable weight loss felt when I thought I was 265, and how crushingly not it felt when I found my new weight.
On the subject of lies-- another 15lb to go until my driver's license is accurate ;)
