Hi everyone and welcome to day #26 of this month's challenge!
Wow, June is almost over. Still trying to get that through my head. Wishing you all good luck on your goals today!
Sodium week: here is some info to get your started on understanding more about sodium and how much you should eat.
Recommended amounts of table salt and sodium from the NHS, including how to convert between the two and which foods tend to be high in salt.
Some interesting facts in this NIH article on salt- for example, 90% of the sodium we eat comes from salt, so you can't really separate the health effects of one from the other. Also, less than 10% of the salt we consume comes from sprinkling it on our food- it's actually mostly in processed foods. Keep in mind it's an American article though, from the land of very salty foods.
Oh, and just because we're talking about salt, I'll be nerdy again and mention that table salt (sodium chloride, or NaCl, also the mineral halite) is what we refer to everyday as 'salt'. But salt is actually a term from chemistry and there are many other salts too. There are even a few minerals (besides NaCl) that are salts; typically they form when a shallow body of water evaporates and leaves the minerals behind. There are even salts on Mars, although not ones we'd want to eat.
OK, back to weight loss:
How's your Tuesday going? And more importantly, how are you getting on with your goals? Tell us about it- all topics fair game- calories, food, exercise, SVs/NSVs, rants, and so on. Let’s do this!
